Dr Carol Dewhurst qualified from Liverpool University in 1981. After working at the Liverpool Dental Hospital she went to general dental practice on the Wirral. She became the founder partner of Whitby Dental Practice in 1986.

She was awarded the DGP(UK) in 1992 and the MFGDP in 1994. After a four year degree course in restorative dentistry at Guys, Kings, and St Thomas Hospitals in London, she obtained her Masters degree in clinical dentistry in 2002, specialising in fixed and removable prosthodontics.

She has 19 years teaching experience in restorative dentistry at the Liverpool Dental School, which together with her post graduate degrees, have kept her at the cutting edge of technology and contemporary techniques.

Dr Dewhurst also has a very keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and smile design.

Cosmetic Dentist Roy Bennett graduated from Liverpool University in 1987. He obtained his MFGDP(UK), from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005.

He has been a part time clinical lecturer at Liverpool University since 1996. He is committed to the highest standards of clinical care and to the ongoing process of postgraduate education. His personal interests are centered on the cosmetic aspects of dental care. However, the prime objective is at all times, the long term well being of his patients.

Dr Bennett has studied in the USA alongside top American dentists.

Underlying his commitment to dental education, he is a member of the following:-British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; Faculty of Royal College of Surgeons; Dental Sedation Teacher Association.

Dr Kelso qualified from Queen’s University, Belfast, in 1997. He completed vocational training in Belfast before undertaking oral surgery experience at University Hospital, Aintree, Liverpool, and later on a part-time basis as a Hospital Practitioner in the oral surgery department at the Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

During this time, he gained his MFDS qualification and now practices solely within the General Dental Services with a special interest in oral surgery and implantology.

Dr Kelso has been trained to use several implant systems and currently favours the Straumann dental implant system. He is a mentor for Straumann training and keeps abreast of new and evidence based techniques both nationally and internationally. He has recently returned from the International Straumann Symposia in Switzerland and the USA.

Dr Kelso has a keen interest in outdoor pursuits, plays hockey and has represented Ireland in this field.

Dr Varga LDSRCS Eng 1975: MDS Lpool 1996, has both worked and taught at the Liverpool Dental school for many years, and is on the specialist list for oral surgery. We like to provide a holistic complete dental service and an internal referral to Dr Varga prevents our patients waiting too long on hospital lists for their treatment. We can also guarantee an expert but sensitive and caring approach with a known team to anyone needing surgical care. To complete our care, she is also qualified in medical hypnosis.

Dr Andrew Watson is a graduate of King's College London gaining his BDS in 1974 and his MSc in 1990. He was awarded the MFGDP in 1992 and completed his specialist training with the Membership in Restorative Dentistry in 1997.

In a varied career Andrew has had experience of maxillo facial surgery and restorative dentistry in hospital practice, spent 9 years in the Royal Navy, was senior dental officer to National Power PLC and spent nearly 20 years running his own general and specialist referral practice in Wiltshire. Andrew, a General Dental Council recognized specialist, has been in referral endodontic practice since 1990.

He now splits his time between specialist practices here in Whitby and in Central Manchester together with an ongoing commitment to postgraduate teaching and professional development. Andrew is an active member of numerous professional groups including the British and European Endodontic Societies. He continues to travel widely in the pursuit of the latest knowledge.

Dr Jonty Meisner BDS, FDS RCS, MSc, MOrth RCS

Dr Jonty Meisner obtained his Batchelor of Dental Surgery in 1989 at Liverpool University. He is a registered Orthodontic specialist and a member of the British Orthodontic Society, the American Orthodontic Society and the British Lingual Orthodontic Society. Dr Meisner is available to see patients at Whitby Dental Practice for private consultations for orthodontic treatments.
